Mysterious Teaching

Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

How to catch a good looking cop (and I mean GOOD LOOKING!!!) !

There were two of them.  They were about as drop dead handsome as any man has a right to be.  They came strolling into my classroom (with the principal in tow) to find out which of my students had called 911.  I just said, "Officers, take me away.  I will admit to anything you want.  Or was that submit?

Anyway, I was actually the one who made the calls. Yes, Plural.  However, I didn't call 911.  I was trying to reach a child's parents.  She was sick and had already been to the nurse.  They sent her back to class and she look ready to heave.  So, I got on the new phone and tried to call mom or dad.  The calls wouldn't go through.  Something is wrong with our new phone system.  Fifteen minutes later (actually I think it was less) in walked these beautiful examples of manhood (i mean, these brawny COPS) and they wanted to know which kid called 911.  The kids almost fainted. They were whiter than the white boards.  I had to admitt that I was the only one who used the phone because it was right beside me and I didn't call 911.  Those weren't even the digits in the phone number I was trying to call.

Apparantly, (duh!) there IS something wrong with our new system and this was the third time they had been called this week.  I just want to know how I can do this again.  And again.  And again.  And again.... and if these same gentlemen will be responding or if they have more friends in the same genre.

What a great story!  I wish I had been there.  We had a similar experience when my mother's smoke detector was having problems.  The firemen that showed up made the whole experience memorable.

Qwest did it.  Now they want to fix the problem.  WHAT PROBLEM???  I certainly didn't have a problem. I really enjoyed the whole experience.  So did my class. They thought I was going to be arrested.  They thought it was great!

Our whole faculty would get excited when the firemen came to do their fire safety assembly.  Make-up and expensive outfits were a once a year event for some of the single teachers!
