Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

I'm waiting...and waiting... and waiting

It is parent conference day!  I love this day! (NOT)  I have been sitting here for over an hour and only one parent has come.  I no longer schedule appointments because they never come at that time anyway.  I have a feeling I am going to have them all show up at 7:00 tonight.  I am leaving at 7:00 regardless of how many people are here.

I am ready for the parents who want to know why their children aren't getting the A's they usually get.  Well, because they didn't earn them.  They did shoddy work or didn't turn it in.  Maybe they will do better next time.

I hate conferences, not because I don't like parents, I do, or kids, love them, but because I don't like sitting here  from 1:30 until 7:00 in my room waiting for someone to show up.

Should I schedule them times?  I have already had 3 calls saying they can't make it on the "day" of the conference can they come Friday evening?  NO. We have conferences on Wednesday.  I am going home after school on Friday.  I have "stuff" to do.  What kind of stuff?  Well, there is a glass of wine with my name of it.
