Mysterious Teaching

Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

Pass your papers to the front, please.

Her:"Teacher, you didn't pick up my papers."

Me: What row do you sit in?

Her: Row one.

Me: Class, did I ask row one to pass up their papers?

Class:  Yes.

Boy behind her:  I passed mine up.  What did you think I was doing?

Her:  But, you didn't ask me to pass mine.

(Me: (frustrated) Well, if you can't follow directions than I don't want your stupid papers.

Her:  Then what do I do with them?

Me:  (thinking what a great loaded question that is...) Well, you can toss them in the trash, stuff them in your desk or follow directions and pass your papers forward with everyone else next time.)

Reality Check:  Me:  Bring them to me.  But next time, follow directions.

Her:  OK, but don't forget to call me next time.

Of all the nerve...
