Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

Complaining

Why am I complaining?  Because I actually had to PAY Uncle Sam this year.  I had to pay for the first time in my life.  I can't believe it!

Why can't I believe it, you ask?  Well, when I started teaching, my two kids had to be on free lunches at school because I didn't make enough money to feed them.  It was actually embarassing but they went to school in a different district so not too many people knew.  One of my fellow teachers knew and every once in a while, I found food delivered to my house.

My ex was out of the picture and child support was a pipe dream.  He thought he was great.  He made promises about buying their class rings and school sweaters, etc if I would pay the deposit.  Then he never paid the rest, I had to.

Well, times have changed.  I am a single person.  My children are grown up and married.  I even have 2 grand children.  I am finally making money and as I just said...I am single.  I am actually able to afford to save for retirement.  I may actually get to retire someday.

I love being single.  I am fabulous in my loneness.  But, I had to pay taxes this year.  PAY!!  I have to call the District Office and change my withholding.
