Yep! That is the rumor going around our school. Actually, this parent just tried to make me move using her truck as the implement of moval.
I was on after-school bus duty. We have been having trouble with parents coming into the bus lanes to pick up their kids instead of going around to the parent pick-up zone. They don't want to wait in line. My new job is to stand at the end of the bus lane and wave them on. Most of the parents understood that it was for the safety of the students and were very polite. They moved on to the parent pick-up zone.
However, this one parent rolled her window down and started arguing with me. I explained it was for the safety of the children and she backed up, went whizzing through the parking lot and then came back round the loop and headed for me. She screamed out the window, "Get out of my way!" I backed up just in time. She whizzed past me into the bus zone and up to the front. Then got out of her car, got her baby out of the car, and walked into the office. Now, if she was going to get out of the truck AND get her baby out of the truck, why didn't she just park in the parking lot? That is what it is for. She did scare the poop out of me. I reported it to the office and the police said it was not a reportable offense. However, they did make a home visit to this parent this morning. She had threatened another teacher the same day. How is she getting away with this? Why don't the police have a way to report it? Is it any wonder that her child is in the ED classroom? Guess where he got it from?
Exactly WHEN are teachers going to have a right to defend themselves against violent students and their also violent parents? We should not even have to take verbal abuse. I don't abuse their children in any way. Why would a parent want to do it to me?
Last year at Christmas, a parent chewed me out up and down because their daughter lost her coat. It was my responsibility? I told the child not to wear it and lock it in the classroom but she refused to. How is that my fault. Then when I finally found the jacket, do you think the parents even bothered to say sorry or thank you? Not on your life! Teachers are just something to beat on when things don't go your way.
Gee, can you tell I was upset by the events of yesterday? Then I had one of my daughters try to tell me who to vote for. She finally realized what she was doing and backed off. Where to they get the gall?
