As any who read my blog, I have some pretty awful parents. They have complained about everything. Called the office staff every foul name in the book. Cussed out our principal. Drug me through the dirt until I feel like I could use a few drugs.
Well, as the story progresses, I gave a simple math test to check on their understanding. It was a Subtraction Test. After all, they are in 4th grade. So...the daughter of these parents flunked flatter than a pancake. I put the grade in the computer and told all the students who aren't doing well, take it home and correct it and bring it back signed today. Oh, she took it home all right. However, she corrected it before she showed it to her parents and they wrote me a nasty note saying that it was graded wrong and I needed to be aware of it. (Only not in such nice words) It wasn't graded wrong. It was graded correctly and you can see where she erased it and made corrections. Do those parents think I am STUPID???
I feel like my head will explode. I am downing chocolate like I own the company. I am so angry that I can hardly contain myself. In fact I am in a really bad mood. AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT NOW.
I want to know just what parents expect from teachers. Do they understand that most of us are knowledgeable about the ways of kids (and parents)? Just how stupid would I have to be to not see that she erased the answers and changed them? I may have to take Thursday and Friday off to get my BP back to normal.
I am a wild, whacky, weird, wonderful woman and teacher. I am venturing into a previous life by teaching ELL this fall. I use to teach ESL years ago. I am excited, empowered, and employed. I love life.
