Insights behind the perils of being a teacher

It was Volcano day...

Every year the 4th grade studies earth science and we built volcanoes.  Today was our day.  I invited the parents and many came.  The kids were so excited.  I warned them about their behavior and to follow directions.  I took pictures of each student with their volcanoes and then we erupt them one by one.
I had one boy who started acting like a pill.  I warned him but he ignored me.  I told him to go inside 3 times and he ignored me.  So, I did what I had to do and ignored him.  When it was his turn to erupt his volcano, I skipped him.  He started yelling at me and told me how much he hated me and generally threw a temper tantrum.  I just turned my back on him and went on with the others.  He was awful.  I told my principal so when the parents complained, he would know what happened.  The parents were really supportive.  Except one who doesn't like anything I do.  I am not sure why.  He son is so well behaved that he never gets in trouble.  Mom, however, calls the principal and complains about me all the time.
The day went really well  otherwise.  Several parents told me how much fun it was and how they thought it was a great activity for everyone.  The kids learned how to explode them at home so they could keep doing it.
Other than the one child, it was a blast.  (Pun intended)
